WITH just over two weeks until the ‘early bird’ deadline passes, Widnes Vikings have sold more than 1,000 season tickets ahead of their 2009 Co-operative National League One campaign.
The club’s chief executive, Alex Bonney is pleased with the response of fans and believes the club are on the way to reach their target of 2,500 by the time the season gets underway in February.
He said: “To achieve 40% of our target with still two weeks remaining until our ‘early bird’ deadline is a great achievement and I would like to thank those fans who have already renewed for 2009.
“It is also pleasing to note that 7% of these sales relate to brand new purchasers, some of whom came to the Stobart Stadium, Halton in 2008 and liked what was on offer.
“There will be some exciting announcements in the near future about off the field activities as we look to meet the challenges of the next three years in the Co-operative National Leagues and I believe that the response of our fans will demonstrate to the Rugby Football League the potential for the sport here in Halton and the surrounding areas.”
Fans who wish to take advantage of the ‘early bird’ offer can call into the Vikings’ reception between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to noon on Saturdays, with the deadline being 5pm on Friday, November 7.
