WHILE I agree with Mr Smith’s comments about Halton Hospital (World, October 15), I wish staff who smoke would find somewhere clean to use for this purpose.
On Monday, October 13, my husband had to attend for a blood test and when we came back to the bus stop we saw several staff under the trees on a path drinking their coffee and having a cigarette.
A woman said she had seen 11 staff sitting on the very dirty looking steps having their break and she also said these steps were used at night by the local druggies. Even while we were standing there, at 9.30am, a young man and woman (not staff) were drinking from a can and smoking and the young man was spitting every few minutes.
No matter how many times staff wash their hands they are still taking germs back into the hospital on their clothes and shoes.
